THe Trail 50k

The 50k will start at 1:30pm from Alpine Marina. Runners will be required to check-in before 1pm at the Ross Dock Picnic area (where the race will finish).

The 50k will follow this route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3216126857093914692

The 50k course includes three significant climbs and over 3,000 feet of total elevation gain. The trails feature a variety of surfaces types, primarily rocky semi-technical singletrack mixed with more smooth dirt singletrack. The course is generally runnable, with lots of twists and turns, hills of various sizes, and some rocky technical sections. There are some extended, intermittent sections of road shoulder and roads that connect some trail segments.

The 50k course starts at the Ross Dock Picnic area. Runners will start by heading immediately up to the Long Path (taking on the first big climb of the day). At the top of the hill runners will turn onto the Long Path, which they will take for the next 7 miles. Around mile 8 just before hitting the Alpine Police Station, runners will leave the Long Path and head down the Closter Dock Trail. This trail drops about 360 feet and takes runners down to the Shore Trail just past Alpine Marina.

Runners will then proceed to do two large figure 8 loops. Each loop is roughly 9 miles long, and will drop runners down to the Shore Trail, and bring them back up to Old 9w where they will loop up to the State Line, and come back all the way back along the Long Trail to the Alpine Police Station. Runners will complete this loop twice, before heading back to Ross Dock on the Shore Trail.

Additional 50k Information

We will continue to share additional information about the race here in the coming weeks. In the meantime if you have any questions, please email cooper@trialsofmilesracing.com.

  • Runners are required to be off of the trails by 8:30pm (the approximate time of sunset). Accordingly, runners will have 6 1/2 hours to complete the 50k distance. Please note that because this race is on trails, runners should assume this race may take them 30+ minutes longer than a typical 10k would take them on the roads.

  • 50k Runners will encounter two aid stations out on the course, which they will pass by multiple times throughout the loop. Each aid station will have multiple food and beverage items. The exact locations and food options will be updated in the coming weeks.
